How would you have destroyed the Ring?

I really dont belive there was any other way the Ring could have been dealt with properly. Elrond knew that this was the time (it felt right or somthing) [img]smilies/rolleyes.gif[/img]. If i was Frodo i would have done the same in his postion, But if i lived there myself and i knew what the wise say elrond or Gnadalf knew i would have been off into the very far east beyond the iron hills and off.
That may sound selfish but hey why wait to see what happens.
