I think that, as has been said earlier, the main reason the Ring had less of an effect on women as a whole was because Professor Tolkien did not have many prominent women in his book, and fewer still who actually came into contact with the Ring. I think that, had a woman found the Ring, it would probably have affected her similarly as it did with Galadriel and all of the males who came in contact with it.
