I suppose that it's not a major issue for me, since the fact that it was not revisited in RotK did not occur to me while I was watching the film. But now that you mention it, it is strange that, having had Faramir allow the Ring to go and supposedly forfeit his life in doing so, Jackson did not use this to play up the tension between him and his father in RotK.
