Sure Gurthang does seem like an evil sword... but didn't Turin ask for death when he found out that Niniel was his sister... and Turin was the one that killed Beleg... bah don't blame the poor sword.. it was just doing his job <P>If you can blame anyone, blame the curse of Morgoth on all the kin of Hurin Thalion.
