If we are talking about stuff that was lost from the theatrical film, one line I was sorry to see go was from Gandalf very early on.<P>He says, "The world goes on, much as it has this past age, scarcely aware of the existence of hobbits, ..."<P>And then he adds, "for which I am very thankful."<P>McKellen does such a great job delivering this line and it conveys so much to the movie audience so efficiently. I remember this being one of the beats the first time I saw the film where I said to myself, "I'm really going to like this."<P>I can understand completely why it had to go though as Bilbo says much the same line in the new "Concerning Hobbits" intro.<P>H.C.
