I don't think that The Silmarillion as a whole could be made into a movie. Even as a book it reads more like a chronicle than a novel. I do however think that a number of stories from the Silm (and perhaps Unfinished Tales) could be adapted to movie format. For example:The Tale of Beren and Luthien, and the Silmaril (already noted).The story of Turin Turambar, from his birth in Dor-Lomin to his suicide in Brethil.The story of Aldarion and Erendis.The Akallabeth (from the childhoods of Miriel, Pharazon and Elendil to the Downfall and the founding of the Realms in Exile, or perhaps the overthrow of Sauron).Just a few ideas.
