Helkahothion, I think with Haldir dying, (i didn't want him to die either ) I think They wanted to show some pain/sorrow/death on their side, instead of just killing all the Uruk Hai, and no of them being hurt/killed. I don't know, but that might have been one of the reasons for their decision. *shrugs*
