				  | Gil-Galad in in the beginning of FOTR?

In the beginning of FOTR in the big battle scene, I was playing it in slow-mo(which is awesome) I came to the part when a black haired elf with a staff stabs downward on a fallen orc. At first I've always thought that it was Elrond, but then I noticed that Elrond had a sword but this guy had a staff and didn't look like Elrond. Is it Gil-Galad?

I have never watched FotR in slow motion but Gil-Galad was in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men so I assume it was him altough he was never really in a movie, and I don't think anyone(other than Tolkien) knows what he looks like.

Gil-galad is certainly the Elf at the start of the Movie.<P>He is the best elf! Along with his Grandfather.

Ah, slow motion. Don't you just love DVD players? The scene in Moria where Frodo is stabbed takes over 2 min in slow motion. Then I paused at a certain moment in Moria, turning a gory scene into a hilarious one. As for Gil-Galad, I didn't even notice that was him until the last time I saw the movie. I stopped watching for a moment and thought, "Wait, is that Elrond or Gil-Galad." I saw stills of Gil-Galad on the extended DVD, so I knew that it had to be him.

Wow! I never noticed that before. Ahh the wonders of the pause button, I could laugh forever at Boromir's face when he says "Fool!".

I presume that Gil-Galad is only on the extended DVD and not the original because that is defintely Elrond.

No, the guy with the spear is Gil-Galad, I'm 100% sure. It says so on the extended DVD. Oh, he is also in the original film.

Yes, he is in both. I thought the actor they used looked too "meaty" to be an elf. I dunno, he looked like some human "beefcake" to me!
