The battle at Lothlorien had been gruesome. At one point Gabrielle thought the orcs had an advantage, but she encouraged her troops, and they pulled through. Orc and Easterling bodies lay dead on the ground. Gabrielle and the remaining soldiers found their dead comrades and gave them a good funeral.

"Now we must go on to the Brown Lands. Our fellow elves need help there." Gabrielle noted that there were a few groans in the group. "Never fear, for when we have won there, we will return here to a victory feast." Cheers went up from the crowd.

As they approached the brown lands, Gabrielle saw dead bodies laying everywhere. She could only hope they were not too late.
