If all of the tales told here were true, this land must be run by at least two dozen kings, half of them calling it "Arnor" and half calling it the "Reunited Kingdom". He grinned, in an odd way, and started, "Well, I wasn't always so behind on things. Back in the old days, I always seemed to be where things were happening, though they were not events you would have wanted to witness."

"When Feanor was slain, I was there. When Hurin was captured, I was there. When Gondolin fell, I was there too. But I did not see the battle that toppled Melkor, and only heard about it much later; I fled from that struggle before it began."
