The golden head lifted slowly, and Laurie looked around with unseeing eyes at the company surrounding her. How long had she sat there? She could not say... While she had sat, the vision had come to her again. It was stronger, more vivid. She wore the delicate clasp in her hair while her eyes searched over the sea. The waves broke upon the shore with a pounding noise.. or were they calling to her? Laurie could not know the difference. She only knew that she wished to go forward but stood rooted to the ground.

It took a conscience effort for Laurie to return to the inn. She had willed herself back to reality, and the dream made up her mind for her. For a simple girl from the fields of humble Rohan, this was too much, too strange. Laurie picked up her skirts and headed for the rooms. She slipped inside the door that she knew led to Pio's room and sat down to await the innkeeper to arrive.
