I think we can realistically find some ponies shortly after we are dropped off-- or buy them from Rohannish sorts of folks. Bringing a herd all the way from Meneltarma seems strange.

But maybe there'd be one or two that fled the waves and got high enough. The queen didn't make it but maybe a few ponies did. And the Hobbrim wouldn't need them.
