Elanor, Ransom, and Elwyn took turns keeping watch and holding the prisoner, while the other two slept. Elwyn had tied the witch's wrists and ankles together with strips cut from her green tunic, and gagged her with another, but the woman still struggled wildly.

As Ransom and Elanor slept, Elwyn began to whisper to the witch. "Well, Mithwyn, it's been some time since we have met. And I have not missed you. You remember what I swore I would do to you that day, the day you burned the village? That oath has never been broken..."

Mithwyn writhed in her bondage, remembering well. Her limbs shook with fear at the memory.
