Nuru lifted the tablecloth and peered out. A quick glance around the room told her Rie wasn't there yet. Dropping the tablecloth, she sat perfectly still. The last thing she wanted was for someone to find her hiding place. That would be sure to attract a reporter's attention.

If there was one thing Nuru couldn't stand, it was watching people reeling about, drunk. She herself had never been drunk in her life and didn't intend to start now. The food above her smelled rather good, though...

Wait until later, she told herself sternly. You don't want to stuff yourself until Rie comes. Then you'll have a nice, sensible meal together as well as a little chat.
