How about Piers Anthony? I too enjoy Marion Zimmer Bradley, although I was greatly grieved when they made Mists of Avalon into a movie. They did a severe injustice to that book [img]smilies/mad.gif[/img] ! And of course, Anne McCaffery is pretty good too. And yes, no one can compare to Tolkien!
