I'd make pixies.. very short, and immensely hard to spot. They would have wings, and would be the keepers of the night, posessing an inner glow and sprinkling pixie dust over all to make them go to sleep [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] and in the day, they would be nearly invisible, only occasionally could one hear their laughter..

As for the ring, I would make it absolutely transparent.. but within a certain proximity of flames, or ice, it would create an illusion of flame, or ice.
