The distance is measured in Leagues, and I do not remember correctly the distance between the Shire and Mordor. I do however, know there is a good book out on the subject, called "Maps of Middle Earth" by a female writer... that gave me the understanding of the length of the journey of the Three Hunters...Aragorn, legolas, and Gimli's journey The Falls of Rauros over the fields and to Fanghorn. Let's just say that it was a wild run! It spanned something close to running from the bottom of California up to the Washington Coast. A horrible distance run in less than a week. The Rangers, Elves and Dwarves surely did have nearly super-powers of endurance.
