Reminds me of a Dead Ringers sketch, set in Orthanc:

Gríma: My lord Saruman! Isildur's Heir has returned! The armies of Men have crushed out forces at Helm's Deep, and even now march towards us! What are we to do?!

Saruman: Do not worry...I have a plan! My armies...they will fight to the last breath!

Gríma: Yes, my lord! And you...what of yourself?

Saruman: I shall hide in a hole in the ground for 9 months.

Gríma: Ah, there ot rally our armies for a blistering counter-attack!

Saruman: Nooo...just to hide in the ground.

Gríma: So you...you won't be leading us on in the resistance..?

Sarumna: No, I'm just going to hide in a hole in the ground. Trust me.
