What happened to the hobbits?

I found the Sillmarillian better each time I read it.The fist time getting through the Music of the Ainur, gave me pause,and regrettably I put it off a few years.But once I 'tackled" it, I re read it over a few times.I still find new things in it, as each time it seems I am interested in different parts.

I have not read HOME.I didn't know it exsisted until recently.In our tiny town it is not in the library, so I'll have to wait and order it.
