We have walked 320 miles.
We are still south of the Road (314).
It is 8 miles to the next landmark.
We still have 138 miles to Rivendell.

It seemed too much to hope that the Riders had already lost their trail again. Perhaps they were waiting to make some ambush in a narrow place?
