I found a computer today, so I'm posting hurriedly.

At 301 miles from Rivendell, this poor hobbit feels she will never make it! Strider awoke me this morning yelling "Melilot! You take Alatáriël and try to find some birds," Well, we walked, but I got lost and wandered for five miles!

We have walked 302 miles.
We are STILL south of the Road (300).
It is 12 miles to the next landmark.
We still have 156 miles to Rivendell.

Not once did they feel the sense of present evil that had assailed them before the attack in the dell.
