Just to get back on subject (at least seriously) a teensy bit, here's my two cents. I know that the movies caused people to see the characters differently. My knew way of seeing people:

Boromir: in the books, this guy really annoyed me... I mean, he seemed kind of a stuffed-shirt who only cared about himself and his city, plus the fact that he attacked Frodo and then had to go get himself killed, but after the movies, I really like him. I saw the FOTR for the first time and then I really thought about him and realized that he's just a guy trying to do what he thinks is right, but is under a lot of stress, etc...

Faramir: at first, just like everyone else, I was really ticked about the "I'm a jerk, gimme the ring" bit, but then my brother showed me this article he found and now I agree. It was going on about how even in the books, Faramir played good-cop/bad-cop and how he was really just using proven techniques to get Frodo to tell him everything. That is until he went all noble and let him go. But I still see him as a bit of a jerk now.

Arwen: I always liked her until her Arwen-warrior-princess role in FOTR. Now she just annoys me. And then after her exerting ride against the Nine, she just goes home and spends her time sewing and crying to Daddy Elrond about how she wants to see her man. Yeesh.

All Hobbits: I saw them as more their own species and not just shrunken humans with pointy ears and hair feet. The movies just didn't do it for me.

There's more, but this is good for now. Cheers,

Fea
