Its defining characteristic of witty, clever, erudite posts, coupled with a slight po-faced tendency--that is, of assumed seriousness, without taking oneself too seriously.

Whose posts am I talking about? Those of Barrow Wight, Mithadan, Mr. Underhill, Sharkû, Onewhitetree (Kkate), Zifnab, burrahobbit, Bruce Macculloch, Rimbaud, Squatter, Kurruharan, Estelyn Telcontar, Birdland, Lush, Legolas/Ulmo.

I'd also include any thread which Child of the Seventh Age sets up even though her discussions tend towards earnest seriousness rather than assumed. Her thoughts are always rewarding.
