Is Morgoth trapped out in the void or was he killed, if a Valar can be killed?

Morgoth's in the void during the Third Age, having been banished there by the other Valar. I don't think it's possible for anyone other than Eru to kill a Vala.

Were [the Silmarils] important because they were made of the light from the trees or for some other reason? did they bestow any power?

The Silmarils are important because they are the only objects that still contain the light of the Two Trees, whence come any other qualities they possess. They're also Feanor's master work and never to be equalled even by him, which explains their value. They don't confer power, but they do have certain inherent powers of preservation and destruction, as we see in the story of Beren and Luthien.
