For a channel with an average running of roughly (ball-park estimate) 25ish people, it's really impossible for Tolkien talk to go on 24/7, as Phrim says. If you're not the type of take-charge person who's willing to throw a Tolkien topic out for us to discuss, you can always do what I mainly do, stay quiet and chime in when something (preferably Tolkien-related) strikes your fancy.
