Dear Friend of the Barrow-Downs,

The Barrow-Downs Team has decided that it's time to move our discussion forum from EZboard to our own server. EZboard is too thick with ads and popups, and their future is uncertain. We fear that if we don't make this move soon, we’re going to wake up one morning and find EZBoard gone. It’s happened with other free services. Accordingly, we plan to purchase the Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB) software (www.infopop.com) and install it at the Barrow-Downs so that as long as the Barrow-Downs exists, so will its discussion forum.

But in order to make the move, we need to raise at least $250, which is the purchase price of UBB. To do so, we are asking all of our site friends to donate to our site fund. It is our hope that, as you have contributed your thoughts, ideas, and creativity to make the Barrow-Downs a place that we can all be proud of, you might now help us with a financial contribution that will make it an even more friendly place to visit than it already is (imagine -- popup ads banished forever into the Void!).

However, let us emphasize that DONATIONS ARE COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY (of course). You certainly don’t have to donate. But we don't want to ask for help without offering something in return. We have developed the following incentives for anyone who does decide to give to the fund:

BARROW LORD/LADY - $25.00 or more
Each Barrow Lord/Lady will receive their own unique @barrowdowns.com email account (i.e., yourname@barrowdowns.com), have their own one-page bio page on a unique subdomain (i.e. yourname.barrowdowns.com), and be listed on the CONTRIBUTORS page under the Barrow Lords and Ladies section with a picture and a link to their bio page.

BARROW KNIGHT - $15.00 to $24.99
Each Barrow Knight will receive their own unique @barrowdowns.com email account and be listed on the CONTRIBUTORS page under the Barrow Knights section with a picture and a favorite quote.

BARROW PAGE - $5.00 to $14.99
Each Barrow Page will receive their own unique @barrowdowns.com email account and be listed on the CONTRIBUTORS page under the Barrow Pages section.

BARROW FRIEND - $1 to $4.99
Each Barrow Friend will be listed on the CONTRIBUTORS page under the Barrow Friends section.

Please note that this is a one-time-only contribution and that any incentive rewards like an @barrowdowns.com e-mail address or a bio page will be yours free of charge for as long as the Barrow-Downs is around -- which will be for quite a long while, we hope!

All funds collected beyond the cost of UBB will be used to purchase prizes for future contests and/or go towards site hosting fees.

To clarify, no annual or monthly payments (whatever they are)to EZBoard. Our own board, one payment to help us buy it and no more, no more pop-ups or risk that EZ will have problems. Show your support and help keep the Downs the top Tolkien site on the net!

hmm.. My brother just got alot of money (260$) off of the internet and had nothing to do with it. So he gave a guy that played Diablo2 the Name and Password of the Paypal account in exchange for 80 Stones (Just a stupid item). But the guy jacked the account from him without giving him the items. Just pondering - all that money could have been given to this cause.
