Actually Druelen, the "good explaination" has to be credited to Voronwe - I merely agreed and clapped my hands. This explaination makes "the gift of Eru" much beautiful and easier to understand.

If I remember anything from the time I read the Athrabeth, it was that Eru didn't find men fit to take part in making Arda "unmarred".
