Tolkien Tolkiens symbol

I don't know if this has been asked before, but does anyone know what that symbol Tolkien has is?

Did he just draw a few lines and whoops, there it was!
Or does it has some aincent, spiritual kind of meaning in anyway?

Tolkien

I don't know that it has any spiritual or ancient significance, and knowing Tolkien for the devout Catholic that he was, I doubt it. It's made up of the initials of his name. You knew that, right? And it has a runic appearance, which is no surprise coming from JRRT.

These are only his initials, if you look well, the central letter is j(which stands for J), on each sides of the J you have two R on the central J, and the upper horizontal bar is for the T. JRRT.
I don't think it has any spiritual significance, I used to have this sign on my school bag and some kids were asking what was the chinese letter.

Tolkien

It's only JRRT melted together and two flowers... for beautification (is that spelled correct?) matters only...
