Be careful about Sam's age in the Family Trees! I asked about this about a month ago in Novices and Newcomers.

According to LOTR Appendix B, the chronology or Tale of Years, Sam was born same year as Faramir - Third Age 2983, but according to Appendix C, the family trees, he was born Shire Reckoning 1380, which equals Third Age 2980.

Elrian advised me that the generally accepted date is that from the Tale of Years.
