Because Beren was soooo boring and he talked waaay too much, and Thingol couldn't stand to listen to Beren for more then a minute so he sent Beren to look for a Silmaril just to get away from everybody in Doriath could get some sleep. [img]smilies/rolleyes.gif[/img]
