Dain has just left Hobbiton.
Sting

I must say, remembering these old version makes me thankful for the new ones, no matter what you think of them, they aren't nearly as bad as the animated ones...
I can't remember ever making it through Bakshi's movie. I tried a few times, but it was so hard to watch, and I think it put me to sleep or something, because my brain refuses to remember it...
The Hobbit and the RotK--were they by the same people? With all the singing and similar kiddie-cartoon style I thought they were. The Hobbit was at least watchable for something aimed at children, but RotK was so slow at times and the singing and...zzzzzzz...I was asleep again! (I often have that reaction to bad movies...) The songs in the Hobbit at least used Tokien's words--unfortunately the music was overdone.
Fifteen birds (bum bum bum) in five fir tress (zing zang zing) oh what shall we do (boom boom boom) with the funny little things?
And it's hard to read the songs now without their melodies coming into my heads. Grrr! And smaug looked like a cat...
