#5: As an entirely straight clue, this could be CAVES (or maybe TUNNELS), under the Misty Mountains; with the second letter being the password one.

#4: Frodo's dream in Bombadil's house (and indeed Frodos Dreme) are about the Sea, but Merry (I think) dreams of WATER more generally, or perhaps a FLOOD (or indeed DROWNING, though that's a bit dark!).

Frodos Dreme was just to put poetry into the clue. You're looking for something that Bilbo dreams of.

Bilbo sees some things in Mirkwood when he climbs up into some trees, or is lifted up, (I forget which). They are ysually a differe.nt colour, but the ones he sees are black.

Tolkien being Tolkien, does he describe them as being like Red Admirals or Purple Emperors? [Checks] It's the latter. 'Take the second' could indicate using the second letter (U), or could mean we only need 'Emperor'.

(Which would obviously be a reference to Ar-Pharazon, with the theme 'things found underneath mountains'. )

As for Bilboes Dreme - well, FOOD springs to mind after he got Bombur'd by Thranduil. I think he also dreamt of mountains; you say 'it', so maybe the LONELY MOUNTAIN.

6: 'Twin city' in Middle-earth would probably mean Minas Ithil & Anor, but my immediate assumption was Ankh-Morpork. ^_~ 'No rugs back' could mean there's a 'guron' in the answer, but that doesn't sound terribly Tolkien.

7: Uh... Fingolfin's 'squeeze' is presumably Anaire. Not sure other than that.

An ocean! - Fingolfin’s squeeze could mean literally 'the name of a sea, minus Fingolfin's wife'. 'MEDITERRANEAN' contains every letter in 'ANAIRE', and leaves 'MEDTERN', which is enough letters to anagram something. One vowel would need changing (maybe to 'o' from November, or maybe the vowel next to the N, or maybe you also need to add an N), and I guess we'd need to pluralise it...?

Or it could be LEAVES, based solely on the colour.
