How about Angela, then?

Pervinca Took 02-12-2023 04:37 PM

1. Descriptive moniker for a heavenly person.
INSIDE: Bilbo was sent to find this kind of information.
NEVER: Five of these make one line of pentameter in ‘King Lear.’
AMROTH: He appears to have shared Shelley’s and Ophelia’s fate.
LIE: Deceive or lounge – doubly satanic?
LUTHIEN: She’s in the loo, we hear! And quite mixed up.
7. Two prepositions? Goes before the woods, musically.
8. A sailor is a little confused at the parting word.
9. A riser loses, initially, but the sun rises here.
10. Spectacles with publicity inside? Gloomy things, though!

No, it's nothing like that.

Think of a 'heavenly' person.

Urwen 02-12-2023 04:54 PM

Earendil?

Urwen 02-12-2023 05:05 PM

Final lines for the password?

Urwen 02-12-2023 05:11 PM

Or perhaps 'Final leaps'?

Pervinca Took 02-12-2023 05:32 PM

Gonna throw out EAST for where the sun rises.

Urwen 02-13-2023 04:14 AM

N is Namarie, from Mariner. Namarie means 'farewell'.

The I one is hard to find, though.

Correct answer, but to be pedantic it's from A MARINE, which accounts for all the letters, with none left over.

There's a Sondheim musical involving woods. ;) Not one of his best, admittedly.

Into? Or just IN?

Right first time. See above for the right song.

Them hoofbeats sank INTO silence.

And over to you! Well played. :)

New one

1. Immortalized as one of giant statues.
2. He is fallen, literally.
3. They fled, and lived.
4. Iron and sun come together to make him.
5. According to some tales, he got burned alive.
6. He was betrayed.
7. The wise one by another name.
8. Successor of grey one.

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 03:42 PM

1. Isildur?

5. Feanor?

Urwen 02-13-2023 03:44 PM

ISILDUR: Immortalized as one of giant statues.
2. He is fallen, literally.
3. They fled, and lived.
4. Iron and sun come together to make him.
5. According to some tales, he got burned alive.
6. He was betrayed.
7. The wise one by another name.
8. Successor of grey one.

Urwen 02-13-2023 03:46 PM

Feanor is not 5. Not 5. ;)

Also, from now on, my passwords will (generally) not be cryptic.

Galadriel55 02-13-2023 03:57 PM

8. Dior Eluchil?

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 03:59 PM

4. Feanor?

FE + ANOR.

2. Melkor?

2 is not Melkor either. His fall isn't literal.

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 04:12 PM

2. Snaga? Or Gandalf?

Urwen 02-13-2023 04:18 PM

Neither.

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 04:20 PM

Sam fell over when running to the boats to catch Frodo before he left. :D

Urwen 02-13-2023 04:26 PM

Why do I get the feeling you're teasing me...?

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 04:28 PM

I know Eol fell, but he was pushed.

Maeglin fell, but he had a spear in him, I think?

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 04:29 PM

Is the password ILL-FATED?

With LOMION for 2.

Urwen 02-13-2023 04:37 PM

Congrats again

ISILDUR: Immortalized as one of giant statues.
LOMION: He is fallen, literally.
L: They fled, and lived.

FEANOR: Iron and sun come together to make him.
A: According to some tales, he got burned alive.

DIOR: Successor of grey one.

:D

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 04:45 PM

A = Amrod/Ambarto, I believe.

Pervinca Took 02-13-2023 04:52 PM

And TURIN was betrayed by Mîm.

Urwen 02-13-2023 05:07 PM

Sure, why not?

ISILDUR: Immortalized as one of giant statues.
LOMION: He is fallen, literally.

FEANOR: Iron and sun come together to make him.
AMROD: According to some tales, he got burned alive.

DIOR: Successor of grey one.

Pervinca Took 02-14-2023 04:45 AM

L - the only group of people beginning with L that I can think of is the LAIQUENDI. But ill-fated? Unless it's because they're fated to fade and turn rustic - which they perhaps already are compared to other groups of elves?

Urwen 02-14-2023 06:25 AM

No. Search Tolkien Gateway for Elven-related groups beginning with L. That's how I found them. They are also known by a more common name, however.

Pervinca Took 02-14-2023 08:42 AM

Light Elves? I think that term is used in 'The Hobbit,' alongside more 'everyday sounding' names for other kinds of elves, too.

... Lingerers - but to linger isn't to flee.

... LINDAR - the Teleri?

None of those. Try subgroups of Noldor. (Or more precisely, Gondolinians), beginning with L.
