Pervinca Took 08-30-2019 03:15 PM

All right me hearties ...

1. Ring it for ever, kid, for her!
2. Locate two subject pronouns, we hear, and send back Spanish salt for her.
3. I hear you fetch Rover, initially. Lady of the lamp? It's all confused!
4.Dancing girl of Notre Dame, she?
5. Chaucer's Prioress reincarnates in the Shire?

Morsul the Dark 08-30-2019 03:21 PM

Is 4 Esmeralda Took?

Urwen 08-30-2019 03:28 PM

5. Eglantine Banks?

Urwen 08-30-2019 03:30 PM

Theme: Hobbit girls?

Pervinca Took 08-30-2019 03:51 PM

ESMERALDA: Dancing girl of Notre Dame, she?
EGLANTINE: Chaucer's Prioress reincarnates in the Shire?

Not hobbit girls (even though those two are).

Morsul the Dark 08-30-2019 04:13 PM

This one is beyond me but I think 3 is an anagram of Red Jeanie

Never heard of her, I'm afraid.

There *may* be more hobbit girls in it. But hobbit girls isn't the theme.

Galadriel55 08-30-2019 07:18 PM

1. Bell Goodchild?

Theme: mothers of the fellowship?

Morsul the Dark 08-30-2019 07:35 PM

It is the mothers and I know the Password but I don’t want to make another one right now.

2. Find U I Las Findulas

Urwen 08-31-2019 12:27 AM

And this leaves Primula or Gilraen as the last one and the last two. I'd say Gilraen is 3, based on Lady of the lamp clue, but I know Pervinca likes Frodo.

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 12:45 AM

BELL GOODCHILD: Ring it for ever, kid, for her!
FINDUILAS: Locate two subject pronouns, we hear, and send back Spanish salt for her.
3. I hear you fetch Rover, initially. Lady of the lamp? It's all confused!
ESMERALDA: Dancing girl of Notre Dame, she?
EGLANTINE: Chaucer's Prioress reincarnates in the Shire?

THEME: MOTHERS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING.

Urwen 08-31-2019 12:50 AM

3. Gilraen?

Urwen 08-31-2019 12:55 AM

No, Gilaren is the password. This only leaves Primula, as Legolas and Gimli's mothers were never mentioned, and Eru had no spouse.

How do we get Primula from Florence Nightingale, though?

Urwen 08-31-2019 12:56 AM

Password: Gilraen

Urwen 08-31-2019 12:57 AM

Unless it's R+LA+ a synonym for fetch?

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 01:02 AM

BELL GOODCHILD: Ring it for ever, kid, for her!
FINDUILAS: Locate two subject pronouns, we hear, and send back Spanish salt for her.
3. I hear you fetch Rover, initially. Lady of the lamp? It's all confused!
ESMERALDA: Dancing girl of Notre Dame, she?
EGLANTINE: Chaucer's Prioress reincarnates in the Shire?

THEME: ALL KNOWN MOTHERS OF THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING.

If I tell you that LAMP gives you 4 of the letters and LADY is the straight clue, can you work out the other elements?

Urwen 08-31-2019 01:06 AM

In that case, Primula (LAMP+I+R+U). I from 'I', 'U' from 'you' and 'R' from 'Rover'.

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 01:10 AM

The floor is yours. :)

Urwen 08-31-2019 01:28 AM

Will make one shortly.

Also, although I didn't think of this when making the clue, it was said of her child that 'he [might] become like a glass filled with a clear light for eyes to see that can.' So she was the lady of the lamp, in a figurative sense.

Interesting.

Urwen 08-31-2019 02:33 AM

I am having trouble coming up with a new theme......

Urwen 08-31-2019 03:36 AM

All right, this one will be a bit underwhelming, but will give me a bit more time.

1. He is a lord of two metals, mixed up.
2. Briefly, a gentleman returns, within Jupiter's moon, for him.
3. A confused female goat reveals her.
4. A light-conjuring spell loses direction, in a spin, for him
5. Slightly confused male deer meets a returning Elvish father, for him.

(The fourth clue contains a reference to another famous book. :p)

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 07:05 AM

4. Ulmo.

Lumos - s.

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 07:08 AM

3. A + NANNY would give us YAVANNA, but there's no V and one too many N's.

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 07:15 AM

1. Either Ir + Mo or Na + Mo.

Urwen 08-31-2019 07:15 AM

Try alternate spellings.

Irmo is an answer, but not to that clue.

Urwen 08-31-2019 11:01 AM

A: He is a lord of two metals, mixed up.
IRMO: Briefly, a gentleman returns, within Jupiter's moon, for him.
N: A confused female goat reveals her.
ULMO: A light-conjuring spell loses direction, in a spin, for him

Morsul the Dark 08-31-2019 11:02 AM

1. Aulė Au is gold Li I guess is lithium? And sounding it out Aulė

Urwen 08-31-2019 11:03 AM

Did you know that according to some sources, Turin and Nienor will be counted among the Ainur after the world is made anew?

Urwen 08-31-2019 11:06 AM

Actually, it's AL+EU, but correct all the same

AULE: He is a lord of two metals, mixed up.
IRMO: Briefly, a gentleman returns, within Jupiter's moon, for him.
N: A confused female goat reveals her.
ULMO: A light-conjuring spell loses direction, in a spin, for him

That’s pretty interesting I did not know that. My Ainur knowledge is pretty limited. To the point I originally had typed it out with an S instead of an R. Which is a completely different thing

Morsul the Dark 08-31-2019 11:18 AM

Piggybacking on Previnca female goatee are Nannies take away the s you get Nienna

Urwen 08-31-2019 11:21 AM

Pervinca Took 08-31-2019 11:36 AM

R = Radagast.

Adar + stag.
