It could be Elestirne. It contains both 'eel' and 'tin'.
|
10. Lord of da Rings? Rings are worn. And Frodo wore it on a chain, I believe. :D
Or, maybe 'Ringbearer'. A 'title' worn. Or born. |
12. Guessing CELEBRIAN, simply because it has BE backwards and CELEB means silver.
Not that C before M bodes terribly well. |

1. - A Proudfoot, vacant but cut short by one and a bit, is wealthy. 2. - I hear you run before a herb, copper. 3. - A beast beyond the circle? I'm uncertain it's inscribed. 4. - Lend one ear to the shortest war, briefly and back, with a signet. 5. - Love lace and flatfish? Like a ring! MIRIEL - A peaceful station in a flipped garland is a jewel. 7. - Race a saint indefinitely for a green jewel. 8. - A venerated elver - her, English? Heavy metal. GLINDUR - Gee, Eastwood's topped and tailed (duh, you hear me?), but he's dark and tough. LORD OF THE RINGS - A title worn. ELESSAR - He' not greater, but gifted. 12. - Listen: a pirate girl be backwards around silver. MAGLOR - Between Béma and Glorfindel is gold. |

None of the synonyms for 'venerated' fit without anagramming them....

7. Run+St+???
|
1. Odovacar (Odo+Vac (from Vacant cut short) + a (one)); he is rich.
|
Our names gleam? ;)
(Wild guess at the password). ;) (On the slim offchance that I'm right, Urwen can have next go for getting most of the clues). |

2. URUNDIL, meaning 'copper lover,' early sobriquet for Nerdanel's dad.
U + RUN + DIL(L). |

I wonder if the race referred to in 7 could be the ELDAR, and the answer a name beginning with Eldar, such as Eldarion.
|
Or Elfstan (Elf+St+An); 'an' being indefinite article.

Ah, I thought of Elfstan but thought I'd already guessed Elfstone and not been told I was close.
And I had. But for a different clue. ;) And I hadn't worked out what 'indefinitely' meant. Very clever! 3. RANA certainly gleams, but I'm not sure its name does. And is it technically 'beyond the circle(s)' of the world? I was looking for something beginning with RAM for the beast, but no luck there. |

Rochallor was a beast beyond most others, and his name *may* end in an element meaning 'gold.'

Quote:
... also there's no gold in this clue. ;) hS |
Your 'one and a half letters' was fiendishly clever.
Unfortunately I am not, and am still stuck for the moment. :D However, I am going to try this clue: 5. A - Love lace and flatfish? Like a ring! and guess ALATIRIEL, because: a) It is certainly a 'gleaming' name - 'maiden crowned with a garland of radiance.' b) It has TIE for 'lace.' c) Errrrrr…… d) Ala is Quenya for plaice (the word for chips appears in the same song - it's Celeborn's favourite dish). |
And there is R for Ring and L for Love. And she craved the One Ring at one point.
|

Anyway, nope! 'Love lace' and 'flatfish' are both English references, and definitely not Tolkien ones. The straight clue actually has a certain Galadriel connection, though... hS |
'The Beast' could be a reference to 'Beauty and the Beast'
And 'beyond' is 'trans'. |
Quote:
Linda + Sole, maybe? |
I'm thinking it's 'beyond' beast because it's a 'superbeast' - a magical or mythical one. Like a minotaur or centaur or something.
Why am I a day late, Huey? |
So....like a Dragon....?
*goes off to study Dragons* |
5 is nowt to do with Robert Lovelace of Clarissa, I suppose?

Oh. Adamant (Ada + Mant(a ray)).
|
Or maybe Adamanta (Chubb), if all the answers are people? (No reason they should be, other than that they all have been so far).
(Thought of Adamant, but could not find the cryptic elements). (Oh - of course, it's Galadriel's ring). |
