Lothlim ("People of the Flower") ?

I have found several unfortunates beginning with E, but none with a 'wise one' connection in their E--- name or any other connected with them.

Urwen 02-14-2023 11:22 AM

So you missed werewolves going 'Om nom nom', eh?

AMROD: According to some tales, he got burned alive.
TURIN: He was betrayed.
E: The wise one by another name.
DIOR: Successor of grey one.

Is Lothlim wrong, then?

Urwen 02-14-2023 11:26 AM

It is correct.

Orodreth?

And are you referring to real werewolves, or to that Downs game that I couldn't get the hang of?

Real werewolves.

Pervinca Took 02-14-2023 07:09 PM

Edrahil.

Urwen 02-14-2023 08:43 PM

Close, but no cigar. As I said, they go 'Om nom nom'. Figure out what I am hinting at. I know you can. :D

I think we all know who you're hinting at, but EDENNIL is such an obscure name that I even missed it on a first pass through the Gateway page. Apparently it's from the Athrabeth, which I love, but I don't even recognise it.

And over to Pervinca.

Pervinca Took 02-15-2023 06:51 AM

OK then. Here's one I made earlier.

1. Unlike at least two of her kinsmen, this one is most likely no explorer!
2. Gardener and dream-keeper?
3. Elvish gob****e forced to go commando – and the rest.
4. The facial hue that Gollum dreads?
5. A guy with a salty wife starts to howl, revealing him.
6. Find this fair place in a tunnel in Doncaster!
7. Projectile fruit for a Breeland gob****e.
8. A famous gravestone bears his name.
9. It flows through Paris. It mingles and loses direction. Then it flows again.
10. A warrior. But changed fully at his core, and flipped at either side of it, he is cruel no longer.

Did we? I didn't know!

7. An APPLE a day keeps a Bill away.

What do you mean it's not how it goes? :smokin:

I meant I didn't know what you were hinting at. I thought you meant Carcharoth munching Beren's pals.

Galadriel55 02-15-2023 07:19 AM

1. Dora. I'm sure there's a hobbit by that name.

Just YELLOW.

Nope.

Urwen 02-15-2023 07:37 AM

Or Turin, whose wife is literally salty with tears?

Urwen 02-15-2023 07:39 AM

For 9, Seine flows through Paris. Serinde?

Pervinca Took 02-15-2023 07:40 AM

Nothing to do with tears.

Not directly, anyway.

Seine is the correct beginning, but you've added stuff when it says to lose it.

And Miriel doesn't exactly flow.

Urwen 02-15-2023 07:48 AM

Seine loses s and we get EINE, but it doesn't flow.

Urwen 02-15-2023 07:49 AM

Or course, directions could also be N or E.

Urwen 02-15-2023 07:50 AM

Isen?

Urwen 02-15-2023 07:51 AM

2. Sam?

No to Sam.

Urwen 02-15-2023 08:23 AM

Salty synonyms: briny, tart, brackish...

Pervinca Took 02-15-2023 08:27 AM

Not a synonym.

Think biblically.
