I'm all for The Might's anti-spam plans, but I'm not sure about battling without any armor or dining in hell.

My praises to Lalwendë to honoring Vonnegut, probably my other favorite author. I only found out this morning when an obituary ran in the local paper. He's still alive in the past.

Well you said it.
I only heard about it this morning - there was about a ten second snippet on the morning news and I had to go online to find out more. I felt pretty down all morning.

Then I thought about what he might be thinking from wherever he is in Time, and how he'd make a wise quip about it all.

The Might - his books are extremely readable due to his easy style, though you'll find your mind blown by some of the ideas he comes out with and will keep returning to things - he had a knack of making you feel quite haunted one minute and had you laughing aloud the next. Well worth looking out for!

Of course I like The Phantom's siggy. . .it is about Chuck Norris and everybody loves him, since he is so good to let us all live. I even have a photo of him on my fridge, but I think that the siggy should be specified too:
"Chuck Norris is the only person that has counted infinity twice!"

OK! I'm dying to know the what and the where-from of Child of the 7th Age's new sig. I read it aloud and the meaning seemed just on the tip of my tongue.....

More than you want to know....

Pio the Curious,

Ah... There is a story behind that rep. One of my kiddos was browsing on e-bay and managed to find the very quirky book "Eglerio!" and bought it as a present for mom.

This was written in the seventies by two Americans, Anne Etkin and Nan Scott, who had travelled to England and managed to set up a meeting with Tolkien. JRRT was very gracious in his hospitality. The book has their personal reminiscences plus odd snatches from contemporary magazine and newspaper interviews of Tolkien, quotations I've never seen anywhere else.

At the front of the book is a dedication verse in Old English. This is the translation given:

Quote:
I say that he was, among world poets,
the merriest of men, and the most beloved,
the finest of loremasters, fame most deserving.
I have been meaning to ask Squatter whether the grammar/translation is correct and if it comes from another source, but haven't done so. In any case, it caught my eye so I used it as my sig. I should probably add an acknowledgment....

And thank you for the greetings!

Heh..I can relate. Whether my papers are five pages or eight, I always make sure not to start until around 9pm. I have a short attention span, so I usually don't finish until 7:30am, an hour before class.

Yeah...I've decided I should keep my current siggy for a while longer since it really applies to me right now. Starting tomorrow, I forsee several all-nighters for me in this coming week. Curse my bad procrastination habits! At least school is almost over (two weeks!)

Yes, the other teachers and I had a good laugh over it, but it's not as "nasty" as it sounds. You see, this little boy is particularly logical (in a child's way) and since I'm the one who does all the science related things with the children, he assumed I must be the smartest teacher there. Because, as we all know, anyone involved in the sciences is naturally smarter than everyone else.

(Just don't hand me a paint brush. The results won't be pretty.)

Just wait until you are nearing forty!

Then you will see... that nothing will change in this respect.

We might ask lmp or someone how does it go when going towards fifty... although I think I know the answer: nothing new under the sun there either.

So what do we learn from this? We're never mature enough. Happily so. I'm really afraid of people who claim to be mature or "fully-grown adults". They're scary... and they're wrong.

Signature Length.....

I just wanted to stick a little reminder in about acceptable length for sigs on the Barrow-Downs:

For all Shire RPG's: The characters are either greasy haired ranger-clones of Aragorn or Elves with deep blue eyes, freakish fighting skills and magical swords. Trust me.
I also enjoy Diamond18's:

Oh, no! It's not true! Only the beginners do that! I didn't even do that when I began. My first real character was a dwarf...he was great. :P

I nominate Finduilas':

Answer: He said "Whoa!"

I've been meaning to nominate Nogrod's from the moment I first saw it (months ago, I think), but better late than never, yes?

Shield

I'm intrigued by The Might's signatures as well. The wonderful Dons getting a mention? What is the significance of these scorelines?

Ah yes Jonas Kamper who used to play for my team Brřndby I.F. scored one of the goals

*waves blue and yellow*

P.S. Brřndby 2 : 1 Esbjerg

(sorry for being so off topic, I just could not controll my self. Even though this would have made more sence had I been from Germany)
