Okay. I get it now. That's why sometimes you are not actually what you seem!

I think this might be a first for me; I can't recall ever being in anyone's signature before.
So I should acknowledge the clever and astute wit of The Elf-warrior in using one of my lines. Quote:

I love the quote that Mnemosyne has in her signature. It is one of the sweetest and saddest and most sacrificial in the entire book, I think.

I just laughed out loud when I saw Zil's changed signature, fitting the theme of McCaber's WW game. Iä! Go fishy!

Thanks! It's probably my favorite in the entire book (especially because it's just sort of tucked away in there; I never see it on any of the sites with rotating quotes), not least because it's so true--sometimes just knowing that there's a place that gave you happy memories is still out there is enough to sustain you through bad times. Which is why I'm still so ticked at the Ring for giving Frodo imagery-amnesia.

Not really a signature but I figured this is the best thread for this Nerwen's location "Through the looking glass" being upsidedown is pretty awesome.

Even though I drastically reduced my coffee intake after suffering an optical migraine a couple of years ago, I can relate to Master Boromir's
"I have too much blood in my caffeine system".

Why didn't you nominate my previous sig, then? Anyway, I second the nomination of Rune's sig, although the quote combined to Rune as I know him somehow amuses me a lot ("Well never mind, we are ugly but we can still sing songs about Skåne." )

It's been what 400 years? Isn't it time to face facts? You lost the war. It's ours now. You're not getting it back.
(seriously, from where I come folks say "give Skåne back to Denmark!" and I tend to agree, but for different reasons, and if they did I'd stay put) Speaking about that Leonard Cohen song and ugly people, it's quite graphic that song, isn't it? A bit too graphic perhaps.

I like Morms
"When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators" PJ O'Rourke
Not so much for itself but as a reminder how funny and clever O'Rourke is. It is a while since I read anything of his but some quotes have stayed in the mind. My favourite is the one about Europe being so tiny that you can't swing a cat without putting it through customs.

Actually it works best if you just substitute "people" for "women"...after all, telling someone of either gender that you understand them is rather annoying, patronising and presumptious. Telling someone you love them is quite a different thing...

It really is. I can sure tell you that I don't feel comfortable handing out positive and negative reputation! Because, what if they didn't deserve it?

When I was new I felt uncomfortable giving out rep (positive - I seldom use neg rep other than for spammers and then tend to hang fire for 24 hours to see if I still feel that strongly about the post) because I thought it seemed a bit impertinent to pass judgement on peopel who were had been around a lot longer and were much more erudite than me. I must admit that I haven't repped as much lately and should make more of an effort but then the board is a lot quieter. However now that noone has a silly amount of repweight now that the system is reset and it is a matter of a point or two not hundreds then I think it is reasonable to think that if the person made you stop and think, made you laugh, or otherwise impressed you then they probably deserved it.

Any person who would shun a genuinely given compliment or criticism probably actually isn't deserving of it. But think of the times your day has been brightened by the realization that you made somebody else smile, and think of the times you've been gently corrected when you otherwise would have obliviously gone on with whatever you were doing.
Think of it as a conversation instead of a confrontation.

Yes, I think so too. That's why I have it there! I was wondering if I should put the author's name in there...

You must have dropped a few grand there, but thanks!
Yes, I find that quote quite fascinating - sort of a history of socialism in one sentence. Maybe it applies to Werewolf as well - now I haven't thought about that yet... Yours is rather nice, too, btw. I know the feeling well, only my system is tea-based.

I am a big fan of green tea, but ya most my days start with coffee. But when feeling ill or if it's 10pm, and I want a hot drink, tea is the best.
