Tolkien The Barrow Downs Musical.

Expanding on an idea that I had on the "101 things the B-Downers never post" thread, here is a thread that I have not seen so will begin. (If one exists I do apologise.)
So basically, post your own Insane Poems and songs that might be sung in the Barrow Downs musical called; "Living on the Downs". The Poster for which is here
The songs don't even have to make sense. For example here is the opening song in the tune of the "Camelot" song from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"...

***********************

The opening song; (sung by all downers)

We're Wights of the Round Table.
We dance whenever able.
We do routines and chorus scenes
With rotting corpses and lots of beans
We dine well here in Cardolan.
With Firefoot and the saucepan-man.

[dancing by Firefoot and saucepan-man ]

We're Wights of the Round Table.
Our shows are formidable,
But many times we're given rhymes
That are quite unsingable.
We're opera mad in Cardolan
We sing from the diaphragm when we can.

[tap-dancing by The Barrow Wight]

In war we're tough and able,
Quite indefatigable.
Between our quests
we sequin vests
and impersonate Clark Gable.
It's a busy life on the Downs.

We live under the mounds

*******************************

So enjoy your own minstrelsy.

Very Amusing Morsul!

*************************
(To the tune of Food, glorious food form Oliver)

(Sung by the Newly deceased)

Death, glorious Death!
Cold graves and Barrows!
While we have cold Breath!
Cold steel and arrows!
Rot, green skin, rigamortis.
What next is the question.
Life's not something we miss
Coz there’s no Indigestion!

Death, glorious Death!
We're anxious to try it.
Three exsiccations a day--
everybody’s dying!
Just picture a great big hand --
Green, long and clawing
Oh, Death,
Wonderful Death,
Marvellous Death,
Glorious DEATH!

Followed by;

******************************
(To the tune of the Black Adder thme)
(Sung by the darker Downers, such as Morsul the Dark ect)

The sound of hoof beats 'cross the glade.
Good folk, lock up your son and daughter.
Beware the deadly flashing blade,
Unless you want to end up shorter.

Black Riders, Black Riders. Ride their pitch black steeds.
Black Riders, Black Riders. They’re very bad indeed.

Black. Their gloves of finest mole.
Black. Their codpiece made of metal.
Their horses are blacker than a hole.
Their pot is blacker than their kettle.

Black Riders, Black Riders. With many an cunning plan.
Black Riders, Black Riders. You horrid little men!

Thumbs up The Barrows

This is getting cool!

******************

"The Barrows" to the tune of "Tomorow" from "Annie"
(Sung by many Downers who have high voices [which is quite difficult when dead])

The Dead will rise up,
on the Barrows.
Bet your bottom coin
That on the Barrows
There will be discussions.

Just thinkin' about
The Barrows
Makes there ever more cobwebs,
Yet little sorrow
On the forums of delight!

The Dead will rise up,
on the Barrows.
So ya gotta hang on
To the Barrows
Come what may
The Barrows! The Barrows
I love ya The Barrows!
You're always
Full of...
Graves!

**********************

Followed by applause form the audience who are in tears.

Sting

Those are pretty funny. I can't make up songs like that. Although, I could imagine some such as me singing Boromir's riddle to the tune of "The Churches one foundation." It fits quite well.

Tolkien

Sung to the tune of You're a Good Man Charlie Brown

EVERYONE:

You're a good man, Mr. Wight
And we know you delight to be dead!

Yes it's hard to believe
Almost frightening to conceive
The delights of the dead.

CORPSE:

You are smart!

EVERYONE

Your brains are full of Tolkien's works
Eager to discuss them.
With a rotten heart
You enforce the rules

CORPSE:

Every single solitary word

EVERYONE:

Your minions face adversity
They strive to fill the ranks
Killing those
Who adore Tolkien.

You're a good man, Mr. Wight
Agmar's evil spirit.
You dwell within the Downs.
Stealing guest's jewels and gowns.
Luring them into your green Barrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*collapses* That took more time than I thought it would...
Evisse the Blue's sig, sung to the tune of "God rest ye merry Gentlemen"
*******************
The time has come, the 'Downers said, to talk of many things
Of Hobbits, Elves and Oliphaunts, of Palantirs and Rings,
Whether the orcs are evil and if balrogs have wings.
And If the Balrogs had wings.
If they had wings,
And If the Balrogs had wings.
(Repeat to fade)
Ok heres a long one
To the tune of Bare naked ladies' "One Week" I call this Downaholic
It's been one week since I posted here
Looked at a Quiz and Said I know!
Five days since I laughed at Mirth
Sayin' Get better come back to pstin'
Three days since the movie room
I relized I was wrong but couldnt post that
Yesterday BarrowWight Forgave me
But will still be two days 'till I post my error
Holding onto big link
You think your looking like the big Toast
I summon quotes to the post
Although I like to just know
I like the Quotes cuz Theyve never been proved wrong
Feel all Elvish when I bust Rhymes
like Tolkiens Times
Since im all about value
Gimli got all the best bits
We try to match wits
You try to fool me I win anyway
Ipostandpostallthetime
If youveeverseenthepostthenyoudknow
I can not help if I think its funny when youre wrong
Trying hard not to smile though I feel bad
Im the kinda guy that laughs in the Book Threads
The eerie lights in the already gloomy 'Downs are dimmed. It is time for a heart breaking duet. (to the tune of "Come What May" from the Moulin Rouge)
male:
Never knew I would die like this
Like I've never seen the death before
Want to vanish into the dark
Every day I rot more and more
Listen to my bones how they bang and creak
Telling me to oil them or go to sleep
Everything's changed - living to dead
But I love you until I'm a Pile o' bones
Corpse Chorus:
Come what may
Leave or say
I will love you until my bones are dust!
female:
Suddenly this mound seems such a cozy place
Suddenly I get moldy with such a perfect pace.
Suddenly my eternity doesn't seem such a waste
I want to haunt around you!
And there's no coffin too small
No grave stone too tall
Howl out this song and I'll be dead by your side
Tomb stones may fracture and moss cover them
But I love you until I'm a Pile o' bones.
Corpse Chorus:
Come what may
Leave or say
I will love you until my bones are dust!
Yay!
This thread is too amusing; I simply must contribute.
Based on "Welcome" by the Who
"Welcome to the Downs!"
Come to the Downs
Be one of the deceased people.
Come to the Downs
We're posting all night
Never sleeping.
Dead dwarf, please come in!
And you, Numenorean
Little hobbit welcome
And you all from Lorien
Come to the Downs!
Into the Downs.
Come to the Downs
Be one of us.
Make this your barrow
Be one of us.
You can help
To collect some more in
Happy dead people
Lets get them all in!
Come to the Downs!
Into the Downs.
See that Moderator who's Mod-ing along
And all the dead people, so happily gone
they're singing this song
Go into that thread
Bring your yet-living friends
Everybody register and post till the world ends!
Come to the Downs
Be one of the deceased people.
Dark lonely Downs
Posting all night never sleeping.
We need more bandwidth
Build an extension
A foggy new Downs realm
Spare no expense now
Come to the Downs
Be one of us
Come into the Downs
Be one of us
Come to the Downs
Into the Downs
Welcome!
------------------------------
And another one, based on the Who's "Tommy's Holiday Camp"
"The Barrow-Downs Holiday Camp"
Good morning, Downers!!!
I'm the Barrow Wight,
and I'll welcome you to the Barrow-Downs Holiday Camp
The forums with the difference
Never mind the weather
When you come to the Downs,
Obsession reigns forever!!!
(bouncy music)
The barrow with the difference
Never mind the weather
When you come to the Downs,
You'll be happily dead forever!!!
----------
This is so forking entertaining!
As both a British citizen and a fan of the Beatles, I felt it my duty to parody them.
***************************************
"Being for the benefit of Mr Wight" to the tune of "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" from "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
For the benefit of Mr. Wight
There will be a show tonight
on trampoline
The Nazgul kings will all be there
Late of Minas morgul Fair
what a scene
Over men and horses hoops and garters
Lastly through a hogshead
of real fire!
In this way Mr. W. will challenge the world!
Mr Wight, with a fate.
Performs his feat on Saturday
at Helm's gate
The Nazgul kings will dance and sing
As Mr. wight flys through the ring
don't be late
Messrs. K and H. assure the public
Their production will be second to none
And of course Henry The Horse dances the waltz!
(Crazu music)
The band begins at ten to six
When Mr. Wight. performs his tricks
without a sound
And Mr. H. will demonstrate
Ten summersets he'll undertake
on solid ground
Having been some days in preparation
A splendid time is guaranteed for all
And tonight Mr. wight is topping the bill
Keep 'em coming folks!
The Eye This is where I come in!
“Living is murder” To the tune of “Carrot juice is murder” by the Arrogant worms.
Listen up corpses and dead things,
Come here my desperate tale
I speak of our friends of graveyards,
Trapped in the dirt like a jail
Barrow Wights live in oppression,
Sent to sleep by Bombadill
This sleeping of Wights is madness,
I say we take up the fight
Living is only for murderers,
Surviving’s a fascist regime
Don’t think downers don’t have feelings,
just cause the skeletons can’t scream
I’ve heard the screams of the Barrow Wights,
Watching their skins being peeled
Rotting and stinking with no mercy..
How do you think that feels?
Autopsies constitute murder.
Grave yards, prisons for slaves
It’s time to stop all this living.
let’s call the Witch king to help.
I saw a man living happily,
So I beat him black and blue
If he ever draws a breath again,
I’ll bite him clean in two
I’m a political prisoner,
Trapped in a windowless grave
’cause I stopped the burning of corpses,
By killing five men in a rage
I told the judge when he sentenced me,
this is my finest hour..
I’d kill those undertakers again,
just to make one more barrow Wight
I’ve heard the screams of the Barrow Wights,
Watching their skins being peeled
Rotting and stinking with no mercy..
How do you think that feels?
Autopsies constitute murder.
Grave yards, prisons for slaves
It’s time to stop all this living.
let’s call the Witch king to help
How much as people do we dare to give
Making our children bleed and still live
Untie your cremated, uncage your skeletons
Let Barrow Wights free, don’t mash that brain!
I’ve heard the screams of the Barrow Wights,
Watching their skins being peeled
Rotting and stinking with no mercy..
How do you think that feels?
Autopsies constitute murder.
Grave yards, prisons for slaves
It’s time to stop all this living.
let’s call the Witch king to help
Come and help! Come and Help!
Here's yet another Python inspired sing song;
**************************
The Meaning of Wight. To the tune of "The Meaning of life" from "Monty python and the meaning of Life."
Barrow Wight: Morning!
Saucepan man: Morning.
Barrow Wight: What's new?
Saucepan man: Not much.
Fire foot: Morning!
BW & SpM: Morning!
SpM: Wight was just asking, "what's new?"
Fire foot: Nothing.
BW: Here look, Underhill's being eaten!
SpM & Ff: Is 'e?
Bw: Makes you think doesn’t it!
SpM: Yea,
BW: I mean, what’s it all about?
Ff: Beats me.
(Song begins)
Why are we here, what's Silm all about?
Are Elves really real, or is there some doubt?
Well tonight, we're going to sort it all out
For tonight it's the Meaning of Wight.
What's the point of all this hoax?
Is it the Dragon and the egg time,
Are we just yolks?
Or perhaps we're just one of Melko's jokes.
Well ça c'est the Meaning of Wight.
Is death just a game where we read the forum rules,
While we're searching for something to say,
Or are we just simply spiralling coils,
Of self-replicating DNA?
on this site, what is our fate?
Is there Mirth and Quiz rooms? Do we always debate?
Do Balrogs have wings or is it too late?
Well tonight here's the Meaning of Wight.
For millions this site is a glad vale of death,
Sitting round with nothing to post,
While scientists say we're just spiralling coils,
Of self-replicating DNA
So just why, why are we here?
And just what, what, what, what do we fear?
Well çe soir, for a change, it will all be made clear,
For this is the Meaning of Wight!
-c'est la sens de la Wight,
This is the Meaning of Wight.
Thumbs up on the topic Goomba! Your Python themes aren't too shabby either
I have here a short concoction based on Les Miserables:
Do you hear the Downers sing
Singing the songs of mirthy men
They are the songs that even elves can't sing
But orcs can squeal on end
When the beating of your heart
Plays to the beating of the Wight
Estelyn, Underhill, and Sharku
Will sing this too!
[size=2]I call this "Crazy Fangirl Turned Sane." The title needs a little work. Sing it to the tune of Unforgiven (the first, not second) by Metallica.
(All the members)
New blood joins The 'Downs
And quickly she's subdued...
Through constant pained PMs,
The young fan learns their rules.
With time the child gives in;
She admits she was wrong.
Deprived of her old thoughts,
The fangirl struggles on and on she's known.
A mind unto her own;
That never from this day
Her old stalkeresque habits will sway.
(Fangirl)
What I've felt,
What I've known,
Finally shines through in what I've shown.
Never be, never see,
Won't see what might have been.
What I've felt,
What I've known,
Finally shines through in what I've shown.
Finally free
Finally me
So I thank thee, Barrowdowners.
Move over Don Mclean, yours was for Van Gogh but this one's for the Barrow-Wight:
Barrow, Barrow Wight
Paint your layout black and green
Look out for your storming sheen
With eyes that know the darkness in my post
Shadows on the threads
Sketch the bones and the orkish thrills
Catch the Wights give them winter chills
In colours on the ghostly linen plain
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your Barrow-ty
And how you tried to set the newbies free:
They would not listen; they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Barrow, Barrow Wight
Flaming brands that brightly blaze
Swirling on my violet face
Reflect in Barrow's eyes of reddish hue
Colours changing hue
Mourning threads of ample grey
Weathered members lined in pain
Are sooth beneath the Barrow's wraith-like hand
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your Barrow-ty
And how you tried to set the Orlies free:
They did not listen; they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
For they could not comprehend you
But still your moderators came through
And when no hope was left in sight
for our Barrow Barrow Wight
You took your post as Barrows often do
But I could've told you Barrow:
This forum would not be the same
Without the Wighty things you do
Barrow, Barrow Wight
Progress hung in empty halls
Frameless threads on countless falls
With eyes that watch the morgue and can't forget
Like the members that you've met
The ragged words, your bloody prose
Lie crushed and grained into my failing brain
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your Barrow-ty
And how you tried to set the bad posts free:
They would not listen; they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will.
"Too Old for the Barrow Downs, Too young to die." to the tune of "Too old to Rock and Roll, Too young to die" by Jethro Tull.
********************
The old Wight wore his hair too long,
wore his trouser cuffs too tight.
Un-dead to the end --- drank his ale too light.
Death's head belt buckle --- yesterday's dreams ---
The Morgul king's prophet of doom.
Ringing no change in his double-sewn seams
In his post-war-babe gloom.
Now he's too o-o-old for the Barrow down-down-downs
but he's too young to die.
He once owned a Hobbit hole and Sandyman's Mill.
Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs
and prays that he always will.
But he's the last of the blue blood lifeless boys
all of his mates are doing time:
buried with three kids up by the ring road
sold their souls straight down the line.
And some of them own little sports cars
and meet at the tennis club do's.
For drinks on a Sunday --- work on Monday.
They've thrown away their dwarven shoes.
Now they're too o-o-old for the Barrow down-down-downs
and they're too young to die.
So the old Wight gets out his bike
to make a ton before he takes his leave.
Up on the North downs by Angmar
just like it used to be.
And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take
and he hits the west road doing around 120
with no room left to brake.
And he was too o-o-old for the Barrow down-down-downs
but he was too young to die.
No, you're never too o-o-old for the Barrow down-down-downs
if you're too young to die.
No, you're never too o-o-old for the Barrow down-down-downs
if you're too young to die.
No, you're never too o-o-old for the Barrow down-down-downs
But he was too young to die!!!!
I wish I would've met you
Now it's a little late.
What you could've taught me
I could've saved some face
We boost up your reputation
All day long
For the most part we're right
But look how they all got strong
That's why I say hey man, nice post
What a good post man.
A man
A pun
Hey man
Have fun
Nice post
Now that the smoke's gone
And the air is all clear
Those who were right there
Got a new kind of fear
You'd fight and you were right
But they were just too strong
They'd stick it in your face
And let you read what was overlong
That's why I say hey man nice, nice post
why not a LOTR song "The road goes ever on and on"
The Threads go ever on and on
down from the site where they began
Now many pages the thread has gone
And I must read them if I can
Persuing them with eager eyes
Until they reach some other thought
Where many posts and questions meet
and whither then I can not write
Very amusing Morsul!!
****************************
Good idea Morsul; Here’s a parody on "In western lands" that's the one Sam sings in Cirath ungol right?
In western threads beneath the sun
The topics flower in spring
The dead ones rise, the waters run
The merry downers sing
Or there maybe 'tis cloudless night
And closed threads are bear
The Barrow downs, as jewels white
Amid the branching threads.
Though here at journey's end I lie
In barrows buried deep
Beyond all moderators strong
Beyond all mountains steep,
Above all shadow rides the sun
And Wights forever dwell
I will not say the topics done
Nor bid the Wights farewell.
***************************
I'm sure this will be a big hit in the West End!
Thumbs up Cold be hand
It would not be the Barrow downs musical without the Song of the Barrow Wights;
*************
"Cold be hand" to the tune of "Yellow submarine" by the Beatles.
Cold be hand and heart and bone
and cold be sleep under stone:
never more to wake on stony bed
never, till sun fails and the moon is dead.
In the black wind the stars shall die
and still on gold here let them lie
till the dark lord lifts his hand
over dead sea and withered land
Hahahahaha! Somehow the thought of 'Cold be heart' sung to Yellow submarine is very amusing...and a little disturbing. I've been trying to parody My favourite things, but alas, it's more difficult than I anticipated and I gave up...Maybe someone else is up for the challenge.
Meanwhile: - a bit of West Side Story:
New member:
I feel rotten!
Old members:
You are rotting!
Veteran member:
And I'll soon be getting a PT!
All:
In my Barrow,
Yes, I could hardly believe I'm real!
Chorus of members:
I feel wightish, oh so wightish,
I feel black, and yellow, and covered in goo!
And I pity,
Anyone who's not a Downer too!
Thumbs up The Palantir is on the grass!
In honour of the Pink Floyd, here is a song about Saruman's rapid determination after getting hold of the palantir.
************************
The Dark side of the Rhún, (to the tune of Brain damage from the Dark side of the Moon)
The Palantir is on the grass!
The palantir is on the grass!
Remembering games,
And daisy chains
And laughs.
Got to keep the wizards on the path.
The Palantir is in my hall
The palantir is in my hall
It holds my folded paper to the floor,
And every day, the paper boy brings more.
And if the Dam breaks open,
many years too soon.
And if there is no Room up on the hill.
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too.
I’ll See you on the Dark side of the Rhún!
The Palantir is in my Head!
The palantir is in my head!
You made the change,
You raised the blade
You re arranged me till I’m insane.
Ents locked the door
And threw away the key
Theres someone in my head, its not me.
And If the clouds burst its,
Thunder in your ear!
You shout and no one seems to hear
And If the band your in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the Rhún!
Tolkien
*coughs* I think you'll find it says;
"There is no dark side of the Moon really, as a matter of fact, it’s all dark"
or
"There is no dark side of the Rhún really, as a matter of fact, it’s all dark"
__________
Here is another one;
Guess the tune;
************
The Ents go marching;
The Ents go marching
Tree by tree
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The Ents go marching
Tree by Tree!
Hurrah! hurrah!
The Ents go marching
Tree by Tree!
They went with Pippin and Merry
And they all went down to
Isenguard that day!
(Repeat to fade)
The Saucepan Man has been trapped in the Barrow!
Boots Back catalogues and shameless plugging ...
I posted this in one of the Barrow Downs forum threads in response to something Hookbill said about Pink Floyd and the coming of Sauron. As you can see, despite getting up to no good on the Dark Side of the Rhún, Roger Waters did eventually see the error of his ways:
We don’t need no domination.
We don’t need no Orc control.
No dark enquiries in the Shire land.
Sauron leave that Ring alone.
Hey! Sauron! Leave that Ring alone.
All in all it’s just a-nother
Trip to Mount Doom.
All in all it’s just a-nother
Trip to Mount Doom.
Of course, if you are to make a LotR musical, you need the widest selection of songs possible. So here are some more musical threads to help you on your way:
Song Parodies
Silly Songs with Merry (and Pippin)
Funny lyrics that LOTR characters would never sing
LOTR Musical: what songs????
and my personal favourite ...
LOTR characters and Beatles songs
Oh and Hookbill, your version of Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite risks an action for breach of copywight. Sergeant Saucie's Barrow Downs Club Band already covered it, as you can see here:
Happy Birthday To The Barrow-downs!
And there's more from Sergeant Saucie's Barrow Downs Club Band at the benefit gig that they played at the 2004 Barrow-Downs’ Birthday Celebration! . They are available for weddings, birthday parties, family celebrations and barmitzphas, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Oh right, sorry about that Saucepan, man. I guess I should have done some back cheeking on that song... Lets just call it a cover.
Besides, no matter how early you book, disappointment will always creep up on you, you cannot escape it!
Also, its not a Lord of the rings musical, its the Barrow downs musical... there is a difference... I think...
To avoid being off topic I had better post a song;
***********
Right, here is a song about the Barrow Wights;
To the tune of Humpty dumpty (WOW this is childish! But who cares?)
Mr Wight did sit on the wall
Mr Wight did have a great fall
and all the elves horses,
and all the king's men
Couldn't but Wighty together again.
(silence from a confused audience.)
The Wight... To the tune of "The model" by "Kraftwerk"
He's the Barrow Wight he's looking dead
He has a threatening voice filled with dread
He live underground he dose not know the time
It only takes a Bombadill to change his mind
He's going out tonight, loves drinking just champagne
And he has been putting many though some pain
He sacrificing hobbits every one says
He is looking good, blood we will pay
He summons a green hand now and then
For every newly dead he gives the best he can
I saw him on the cover of a magazine
Now he's a big success, I want to meet him again
(Followed by all the Downers doing the robot dance)
Here is another song:
To the tune of the urban space man by The Bonzo dog doo dah band.
I live on the Barrow downs
I live on the Barrow downs
I've got speed
I've got everything I need
I live on the Barrow downs,
I can fly
I'm a supersonic guy
I don't need pleasure
I don't feel pain (coz I'm dead)
If you were to knock me down I'd fall apart right there
I live on the Barrow Downs, baby;
I'm being dead
My names not Fred
(instrumental)
I wake up every morning with a smile upon my face
My natural exuberance spills out all over the place
I live on the Barrow downs
I'm intelligent and clean
Know what I mean?
I live on the barrow downs,
as a corpse second to none
It's a lot of fun
I never let my friends down
I love our good witch king
I have a huge tomb stone, and lots of other things
I live on the Barrow downs;
Here comes the twist--
I don't exist
