Thanks, I like your sig too, tgwbs, since it's from "Die Ärzte" and the song was called.... deine schuld, right? great song
and as for my signature, the quote is the truth in itself, it is from one of my best friends, and, best of all, it'S a rhyme. it says something like "nothing is more yellow than yellow itself", only in a funnier way. and that's your german sentence, gramatically correct ( ): Ich habe gedacht, dass es sich dabei um etwas profunderes handelt, als es in Wirklichkeit ist. (I just can't think of the right translation for profound)

Just so you know, Valesse, I've stolen it as an away message and my friends are already sick of it.

Should really admit to stealing it as well Valesse . . . but no one gets it! I had to explain it to 4 people last night! Ah well, I think it's amusing.

Heh, thats alright Fea and Kath, I stole it from a website... which I think Kath found. Least ways I saw a similar pun there. I'm not that terribly clever, though its fun to pretend!

I really like Pio's new signature; I read it in context, and the whole article is worth pondering. Wonderful thoughts!

Even though I've only played (very badly) in one WW game, I thought this picture on my signature deserved to be WW related.

"I can feel Mrs Blair's knees stiffening as I enter..."
-HM the Queen Elizabeth on Cherie Blair's unwillingness to curtsey Anguirel's is fabulous and so is HM's sense of humour which is clearly just as dry as her Martinis ( A bottle of chilled gin is poured in to a jug and stirred with a stirring stick that has been dipped in a bottle of Vermouth ) .

Mithalwen is correct Diamond. Say it out loud as you read it, it might make more sense that way!

Must be a British thing Diamond, because sirens 'round these here parts don't sound at all like that. (I didn't get it either.)

Oh yes... well, the sirens don't sound that way over here. But now I get it, thanks for the explanation.
Of course I also couldn't figure out Oddwen's sig. You all with the riddles and clever puns are making my head hurt.

(When I first heard modern German sirens in Europe over the summer, my first though was "hey... I know that sound..." I was quite pleased with myself for making the connection 1940s siren = 2000s siren in Europe.) P.S. To the Europeans: sorry to equate your sirens with Nazi sirens... but they're really the easiest way to demonstrate them to North Americans. Our siren is more of a "whoooo.... whooo..."- except really high pitched.

The sirens on London police cars seem in the last few years, to have abandoned the "me ma" and started imitating American ones - the high-pitched whoo of which Form speaks.
No offence to the Yanks, but I really don't like it. Maybe it's an association with American cop shows, but it makes me think my city is more lawless than it really is.

I don't know where you've heard those nazi-sirens but I don't think that any middle-european country still has sirens that are more than 60 years old. We are not that far behind the US as many of its citizens think, actually.
Sorry for being off topic. I also like TOREs sig, it's very witty.

They have been trialing a different siren noise since the traditional one makes it hard to place exactly where the sound is coming from. Aparently a high pitched wail interspersed with blips is easier to trace and allows other drivers to take evasive action.

I was using it as an example so that the more ignorant (ie. non-European) 'Downers could get a mental sound image.
