He lived longer than most men, but not quite as long as his Numenorean ancestors (such as Elros, who lived about 500 years).

He was born March 1, 2931 of the Third Age, and the hobbits spent the night in Bree in the September of 3018. He was 87 at their meeting in Bree, and lived on to be 210, dying in 120 of the Fourth Age.

It's all in the Appendices at the end of RotK. You should take the time to read through them, it is quite good reading.

By the way, you can always go back and edit your post for spelling errors, if you were so inclined. Just click on this ---> image at the top of your post.

Thank you for your help. I've never been big on Appendices, maybe I should start reading them. Maybe I wouldn't ask such stuiped questions them.I was reading "Unfinished Tales" when the question popped into my head. Thanks again.

There is another thread about the Numenoreans which explains all this.

Ah! Thank you for that post. All this time I've been wondering the same thing but never thought to bring it up. Thanks for the clarification.

Well...if he was 87...it said something like "he had dark hair, streaked with white"...did his hair also get an extra- long life from his Numonorean ancestors?
