I would like to give my nominations to the BW, newly dubbed Night In Wight Satin, for one of the most interesting avatars ever. A 64 pixels by 64 pixels white square. *dramatic pause* Sheer brilliance. I can't help but think that it's a play on his PT... In all seriousness, I really do find it interesting for the mere simplicity of it.

Point well taken Mark re: my audacity. I did pause for quite a long time before finally deciding to go with "the man himself." Needless to say, this is in homage rather than comparison!
Besides, with the new school year starting soon I'm feeling rather professory these days. . . EDIT: I'm with you Imladris, the Wight has surpassed us all. Sheer brilliance.

Were you listening closely, Eomer? Did you hear the sigh of relief when I spotted your Rohirrickly awesome face below your name again? I always did have trouble connecting Bob with your name... if only I could find a Feanor avatar. That would be so nice... *sigh*
For other avvies: very nice Fordim, although I must say I miss Doctor Jones. Eswen, yours is... interesting. I haven't developed much of an opinion on it yet, but it caught my eye. And for his sheer brilliance, all hail His Supreme Wightness. May no splotch ever mar thee. And all that sort of thing. I knew I forgot something crucial: A message to Morsul: A little bit of wiseness now and then is cherished by the nonsensical men. Wait... strike that... reverse it. Fea

I've always liked Evisse the 'Pink Fluffy Bunny' Blue's avatar. The simplicity and beauty of a rose. Magnificent, simply mind boggling.

I can't believe how many things change after just a week here! I see Siri,Morsul,Eomer and other people changed their avatars, Eomer reverting faithfully back to Eomer, Siri with here anime-like but cool avatar, and Morsul trying out Willy Wonka for size(I like how your avatar always corresponds with your sig and location too).
Since waking from yet another long sleep I have also changed my avatar to Snoopy's ever-so-loyal side-kick Woodstock. Ahh well you can't stay logical forever -- and even Spock knows that. |

Trogdor the Burninator you say? Fascinating, green, and slightly disconserting I LOVE it! You must advise me on where you find these amazing avatars! BTW: Notice the small modification I made on your post?...Well the one I quoted anyway. I hope you didn't deliberately confuse my gender |

Well, if we're going to talk disconserting we should be talking Encaitare's new avatar ! Disconserting in a cool way, & vise versa.

My avatar may appear at first glance to be a picture of a house-elf, but it is in fact one of the more attractive pictures available of myself.

can I change?
Boy, lots of you guys change your avatars all the time. I've always had the same avatar.
I've considered replacing my current avatar with a pic of me in black robes or something else phantomy, but I think that would sort of mess me up. I mean...well, let me ask all of you who've been on the Downs for a while and seen me on many different threads- can the phantom change his avatar? You and I are used to scrolling through threads and when my avie comes up from the bottom of the screen we immidiately think "There's the phantom." It's not just my symbol or my calling card- it's me. Getting rid of it would, for me anyway, almost be like changing my name from the phantom to something else. Am I too attached?

I don't much got attached to my avatars... I went for so long without, and have had but 3 since finally getting one. My first, ME ME ME (a lovely phrase that has been, to my amazement, coined), my second, roses that act as an avatar on a different site, and now... my silmarils. I really like the silmarils, so they might just stay for awhile.

I unexpectedly got attatched to my Starfire avvie, but I felt that my other one was getting old. Besides, she's just too cute when she's blushing!

I like your new one Feanor. I had not realized they were silmarils...just a pleasantly creepy misty....thing.
I also think that Estel's new avatar is bloody brilliant.

Tried and True
I like signature avatars. I must admit to PMing Fordim with wailings when I saw he'd let Indy go. I still think wistfully back on Lush's Fair and Cold stone face avatar. I miss Squatter's old one even though I can't really say who the guy was.....
Changes on the same theme are cool -- like Esty's improved Fiona avatar. But I get to looking at avatars instead of names so often that frequent changes make me read slower. Of course, I used to be in search of a theme to replace Daffy, but crawled back like the unfaithful spouse begging for forgiveness after about a year.

What do you think about my new avatar? Should I go back to Van Hesling or keep PJ the light hearted.

Actually, Phantom, your avatar is what's given me the everlasting image I have of you. So since I see you as your avatar, it'd be wierd ajusting to a new one. But if you find one you like better, go for it .

Phantom it doesn't really matter if you name matches your avatar, look at me, of InklingElf, or a number of downers, we pick the avatar that we want, i pick Trogdor, Inkling picks Woodstock, Estel picks his Pirates of the Carribean...you choose what you want!

Ones I like:
Bethberry's: It's so...mystical. Evisse's: Very nice. It's sorta mystical too. My mind suddenly stopped working. I'll come back when I think of some more.

I regret to announce that currently my computer refuses to change avatars...so I think as opposed to seeing new avatars every other day a new signature every other day will have to suffice

Sleepy, it makes me utterly sick!
Only jesting, it’s quite interesting. (Edit: I had considered becoming a poet, but my parents forced me not to. Many a days were spent playing football, all by my self, while all the other boys on my street practised their poetry.)

Don't listen to him Sleepy .... it is unfair to be deprived of both Harrison Ford and Hugh Jackman ....... especially in exchange for PJ
