Re: Analogies (again)

The sons of Elrond and the Dśnedain, I guess? Both units, Grimbold's eored and the aforementioned, formed the left side of the battle-line.

Felįrof (probably, but not assuredly) is to Rohan like ____ is to Isengard.
Like what?

Re: Analogies (again)

Okay, I read some about Felaróf. I am assuming that there is much more about him in the Sil, which I have yet to read.

I also don't know any history of Isengard, really, so it's going to have to be a big guess here. What I want to say just seems to easy and mosy likely wrong, to be correct. However, I am going to go ahead and say Saruman.

I know, I seriously doubt it...and this may get a good laugh because it may be way off the mark, but it's another post all the same. Oh well...

Re: Analogies (again)

Saruman is somehow, well, not wrong, but not the correct answer. "Partly right" would be a very suitable expression considering the answer I am thinking of...

Re: Analogies (again)

Hmm...perplexing... Did you want another name for him? Saruman the Many-Coloured? Saruman the Wise? Curunķr? Sharkey? I am not quite sure what you mean by that, so if this is wrong, then I am out of answers!

Re: Analogies (again)

Felarof killed his rightful master; perhaps you mean Grima because he did the same.

Re: Analogies (again)

Good answer as usual, Galpsi.
Although it is not what I had in mind, I am content with yours because it is more plausible than my megere and assumption-flawed analogy of Felarof as the idol of Rohan's heraldic symbol of the White Horse and the White Hand of Saruman as the heraldic item of Isengard. (That is also why I found my "partly right" reply so extraordinarily witty )
Go on, sharp-eye-Galpsi!
