Who was the only lord of non-evil, non-human/non-humanoid warriors in the Third Age?

Treebeard? His "people" proved great warriors befor the Age ended. Buth they are a little huanoid and aren't especially war-like.
I guess it's the Lord(s) of the Eagles.

How typo-ridden was that answer?
Where in Numenor was the seedling of Celeborn grown?

The White Tree Nimloth the Fair, a scion of Celeborn which was in turn an image of Telperion, grew in the Courts of the Kings at Armenelos. That city was reputed to be the fairest in all Numenor, and was built upon a comely green hill.

What would have been too great for Elendil to bear, and would have destroyed him -- mentally even if not physically? what saved him from this fate?

This is strange (I suppose):
in the first draft of Beren and Luthien, who held the role that was later to be Sauron's?
