Sting A question about 'Immortal Lands'.

I dont know if Men were originally supposed to live with the Valar or not. In the beginning of days the Valar made their home upon the island of Almarend, which was surrounded by a great lake. Even though it was an island, it was located in the middle regions of the Middle Earth. The purpose of that was to be there when the Edain and Atani awoke, right? That means that men were originally supposed to live with or right around the Valar. It seems odd to me because Aman, where the Valar were forced to move because of attacks by Melkor, was an Immortal Land. I assumed the reason for this was because the Valar lived there. But I dont see how that can work when they originally ment to live around men. In any case, men got a bad deal because instead of living around the light of the lamps and right next to the Valar they woke up to spies of Melkor.

I was just wondering what insight you had, or if this conversation came up in HoME.

Tolkien

The Valar dwelt there when they were preparing Middle Earth for the arrival of the Children of Iluvatar. Nothing was ever said about them living among Men. Even they didn't know the fate of Men.

My point was that if Melkor hadn't attacked the Valar, they would still be living there when men were awakened. Im wondering how come they originally planned to live with, or in the general area, of men to begin with, but when they set up camp in Aman men were forbidden to come there. Aman was an immortal land, but Almarend wasnt. Why?

It never said that the Valar intended to stay there and melkor tried to destroy all they had made, he did not attack them that would have been extremely foolish.
