Question Regarding Nazgul

I'm not sure where, but I remember while reading LOTR, Tolkien described a Nazgul flying.
Now, what I want to know, is that, can Nazgul fly? I thought that they were just those Grim Reeper guys on creepy looking horses. Or is this some other sort of creature that I have mistaken for Nazgul.
Please, help me out here, because not onl am I confused by this, but I am just overall a bit confused about the Nazgul themselves.... I got lost somewhere when Tolkien started going off about these Reeper guys.
Oh, and also, thanyou allso much for answering some of my questions in the past, you are all very helpfuland kind people!!

The nazgul when 'clothed' do not "fly" themselves in the recognised sense. When they are observed in the air they are seated upon winged creatures, reared by Sauron for this purpose.

But the winged Nazgūl: not yet, not yet . He won't let them show themselves across the Great River yet, not too soon. They're for the War-and other purposes.

Yep, the Nazgul are the "black riders" but later on (After their horses were drowned in the flood outside of Rivendell I think) They were given flying steeds.

And the Lord of the Nazgul takes to a horse again in a very dramatic scene in RoTK.

I can't wait to see what the movie will do with those flying Nazguls. It's going to be so scary, watching Eowyn and Merry (or was it Pipin?) kill that Nazgul!

Given Peter Jackson's current form it'll probably be Arwen, at the head of an army of Elves slaying the Witchking .... not that I'm cynical of course ..

Nope, it won't be Arwen. I'm willing to make a wager on that, 'cause I keep my ear to the ground.

<center><font color="red">We Nazgul do indeed prefer to ride on horses of jet black, however flying steeds are more convenient for swift travel.
I personally find that the black, winged serpent-like creature strikes more fear into the hearts of men then our horses, although the horses provide greater comfort by far.
