It's not said. They or their decendents founded great citadels in different parts of Middle earth, but other than that...
There's a very interesting essay called 'Of Dwarves and Men' that you might want to look at for some information on the Dwarves. There was also a very interesting essay analysing 'Of Dwarves and Men' somewhere on the Net, but I'll probably never be able to find for you.

Dwarves do die, right? I mean- of old age, like men and Hobbits. Good topic!
Sorry to change the subject, but are their any other races in ME, besides Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves, Men, Beornings, orcs, giant spiders, goblins and dragons?

Well, there's Ents, and The Wose. Then there's Tom Bombadil, who's in a class by himself.

Since the Eagles spoke the Common Speech, would they be considered a "Race", outside of the other animals?

Then there's Goldberry, "river-woman's daughter". Now what the heck is she? A sprite?

What are The Wose and does anyone know who Goldberry is. My theory is they are Beren and Luthien in disguise but thats not very likely.

The Woes are the wild hillmen who guided the Riders of Rohan throught the hills to Gondor. I don't really know what Goldberry is, but she sounds like a Nymph or a Niad to me.

Yes they do, but with a lifespan of around 250 years they live considerably longer than Men or Hobbits. It is unknown exactly what happens to them when the die.

The way that it is phrased; "the Elves of Middle earth say," as if the Elves in Valinor knew otherwise, makes me think that the Dwarves did go to the Halls of Mandos.

To me at least, it seems to be a prerequisite for Iluvatar to give the Dwarves independant life is to give them a soul. Tolkien says that the soul can't be destroyed and something has to happen to it when it leaves the body; so it only makes sense they went to Mandos. The Dwarves said that after The End they would aid Aule in rebuilding the world.

Yes, I agree with you, that type of end seems more fitting than simply "returning to the stone from which they were made".

In reply to the question on the wose.

They are decendents of men that where known as Druedain with little or no breeding with other type of men through the ages. Druedain where in Beleriand with the Folk of Haleth during the First Age and they were admitted to Numenor. The Druedain that dwelt in Numenor soon left, and non were there at the time of the Downfall. There probably was a sizable amount of Druedain that did not go to Numenor however.

They couldn't be Beren and Luthien. Beren was a mortal Man, and Luthien gave up her immortality when they returned.
