Sting Why are most good guys ment to be tall? (excepting hobbits, naturally?)

Why are men and elves always tall or why are 'lesser men' said to be shorter? It can't be so the chicks have someone taller than because they're tall too!! I don't have anything against tall people (guys especially) but it's unfair how short people are always bad.

Question

I have no idea why all the characters are tall. I never really thought that you know? My guess is its because no offence to the Lotr or Tolkien, but the books were written at a time whe heroes were seen as tall, gallent, strong and with little or no physical imperfection. Lotr does discriminate the short guys (I should know, I'm short) but we still got the hobbits to prove that statement wrong!!!
Long live the shorties!!!

Actually, in Professor Tolkien's early vision of the mythology, the Dwarves were evil. Read Lost Tales.

Well the dwarves started out evil or something but now they aren't so I guess they aren't really evil, just misunderstood

Tall people tend to be more imposing, and therefore people respect them (not the best thing to base your respect for someone on!). It also might be something like evolution too, about the lesser men. Cuz, you know, we get taller every generation.

You may also have an advantage over your enemy if they are short and you are tall. Leverage and all that. Thus why "good guys" are tall; to gain advantage over their foe and beat them into the dirt. Personally, I prefer tall "bad guys" and short "good guys", if you catch my drift.

Here is my hypothesis. Someone who is powerful, what do you associate with them? Being handsome and imposing. Face it guys, you all want to impress us girls, eventhough some of you don't want to admit it. So it is only natural that these "epitome's of masculinaty and chivalry and men of power" should also impress the Ladys.
