Silmaril Ageless Elves

Hi all. I know that when elves are born, they have this period of time called their "mortal" years when they age more at the rate of a human then stop aging all together. Do they still age a little after they reach that point? Or is it that they age at a mortal's pace their first few years and then it drastically slows down, but still age a little? It's kinda confusing to me still.

There are several discussions on this question on the Books forum. Please look through to find them. Perhaps someone can post links here to the most interesting of them.

Additionally, here is an informative link with quotes from Morgoth's Ring.

Well,

I do know that when they age it's 1 human year to 144 elven years. (that means that an elf takes 144 human years to age one year)

I do not know this sertain tough.

Greetings,

Anuion

Anion-many now favour the 9.58 Elven years to one years ratio. Elves generally grew to adulthood before between 50-100. They had three phases and it is said in their third one, they could grow beards.

144 years = 1 yeni

It's not...

144 man years = 1 elven year

A year is a year is a year. They only used the term 'yeni' because it was easier than keeping up with years, being alive through so many of them.

When someone says Elrond was 6,000+ years old, they don't mean 6,000+ x 144 years.
