Also, Pio, it would make sense if you spoke with the Elves, and found out their 'intentions' regarding the hobbits

Pat---I'd certainly have no objections if you did that part of the campfire talk which outlined the route the hobbits will be taking north. (Please do it, pretty please.)
Will do - but probably not until tomorrow or very late tonight.

Malka--

If you think that is bad, just hold on. Pio's character in the story is supposed to be happily married!

You just can't trust those Elves.

Cami Goodchild, a small hobbit who is shocked at Pio's cavorting!

Yes, poor Mith. He'll soon live up to his name with all those grey hairs that Elf is causing. If he hasn't pulled it all out by that time. And with two more to come....

The route has been discussed now among Pio, Mithadan, Cami, Legolas, and Radagast.

Pio has given Cami a waterproof, leather tube for storing maps in, and has copied a large map of the route for her, plus numerous maps she may need when they leave the forest.

Are you set to go yet, or is there more preparation to be done? A general meeting, or something of that sort?

Pio,

Can you give me a day to catch up on my "backposting"? I need to add a fair piece of information before your last post, finishing up the meeting with Legolas and Cami's letter from Gandalf.

I am also going to reserve a space should Helen need it, which is quite possible.

I would also expect one brief post after yours, and then we'll be on our way.

Pio,

I've caught up on my back posting. Cami doesn't get a man, but she does get two of her wishes--she gets called an Elf-friend and she gets a pony! (Cami is easily pleased!)

I still have to do the final post on the hobbits after the one you did. I will try and write it tomorrow if my schedule permits. I may need to do minor revisions on it, however, once Helen does her Gamba/Phura thing so they flow together well.

Take your time with what you need to do.

I have just finished re-reading this chapter of The Lonely Star, and am sitting here hanky in hand because I really don't want it to end.

*sigh* Pio really wishes she had that quilt - and would add a few more squares of the Elf, Man, and Shapechanger seeing you off . . .

Still working on those fill-in spaces, but off to the City today. Might get on a bit this evening. Otherwise, I'll be back January 2.

Pio-- You gave me a good lead-in through Lorien and Galadriel back to the hobbit history of Beleriand. Remember how Maura and Cami spoke of Andreth's journal and the friendship of Finrod and Galadriel with the hobbit peoples, as well as their ties with the House of Beor? (Maura's father died fighting at Ladros.)

How strange that Cami would have known a few things some of the Elves would not have known. Ah, the joys of time travel and hidden hobbit history.

Sharon - I was just re-reading the FOTR - trying to find a suitable passage to describe the Downs for the Shire game. Read this part of "In the house of Tom Bombadil":

Quote:
. . . Tom was here before the rivers and the trees. Tom remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn. He made paths before the Big People, and saw the little People arriving.
I wonder if Cami and her band will encounter him!

We're back from the City, and have decided to squirrel in here for the night. Folk were arriving in Times Square as we were hightailing it out of there.

Have a good New Year. We should be flying home tomorrow.

Pio -- That's a very interesting quote you mention. I remember reading it before, but I must say it takes on new meaning in the context of our story!

Hey, what do you folk think this means for our story? Does this mean Tom came all the way to the River to see the hobbits off, either down by the Falls or further up towards the north? Or does it mean he sees the hobbits later when we troop across his lands on the western migrations? The latter would not be pertinent at this particular point.

I never thought of Tom going as far afield as the Anduin.

Any ideas, anyone?

OK, guys, the Star is stalled again! We have to get the crazy ship moving and bring it into port.

Pio and I have been stalled down in the Shire, with business at the Inn and trying to get folk to come up with a doable game. Lot's of fun, but time consuming.

My ribs are finally at the point, pain wise, where I can begin to write again. I will try tomorrow to post the next installment of getting the hobbits up and out on the road.

At this point, I'm not going to worry about Tom. Maybe he's waiting somewhere around the next bend.

As you can all see, I have not made any progress on Cami. That is because Pio and I have been buried under an avalanche of work in the Shire, plus my daughter is home sick from school.

I will keep trying to plug away at it tomorrow.

Down to brass tacks now:

What exactly is needed to end this RPG? What do I need to write?

Sharon - you are writing the leavetaking of the Hobbits, Elves, and Radagast.

Helen - do you want one last post as Gamba saying farewell to Phura - Do you want that just before Sharon's farewell post or can you fill in the post spot you've saved.

I'll get us down the river and all the time switching done if you'ld like. Us to the 4th age w/Levanto, the hobbrim back to where they belong, and the Elves to their appropriate time.

Mithadan - can you do a final short wrap-up scene when that's done

Goodbyes and sniffles are done. I will write a brief description of the hobbits' early morning departure, and then I am truly finished!

Helen-- you may tag into my space as needed (even in the middle if you want to do it there) for Phura and Gamba.

"Wait! You left one of your books, Cami...!"

Great final post, Child. Very in character and very Tolkienesque.

This is sad indeed. Endings always are, even happy ones. Cami is a great character. She will be missed.

Mark 12_30, don't forget Gamba's Epilogue!

I guess Pio and I will wrap it up. I hope we can get our act together and do Chapter 2 sometime soon...

I also did an edit of Pio's post to tie up a few loose ends. I guess Pio can take a crack at Phura, et al.

Mark 12_30, go ahead (or not) if you wish. I thought the epilogue was for the RPG not the fan fiction but either way is OK by me.

Roll credits!

The Lonely Star - Chapter 4 has been closed. If anyone is perversely inclined to edit a prior post, tell me please (and I will try to disabuse you of that ill-conceived notion).

I'll leave this discussion thread open a while longer, then both will be closed and shipped to Elvenhome. This thread is magical in a way. You'll note that it is 26 pages long, though the forum's programming shuts threads after 20 pages. I had nothing to do with this thread evading the Down's restrictions and, to my knowledge, none of the other Admins did either. Just a little extra bit of magic for the crew of the Lonely Star...

Sting

*Dons party hat and seizes a bottle of Moet while inserting a cd into the player. Soon Sting's "Shadows in the Rain" is rocking the house (followed appropriately by Enya's "Only Time").

Let's have the party here!

Puts two bags onto table, looking puzzled as stuff tumbles out. Nuts, chips, salsa, and several bags of M&Ms (plain and peanut) scatter onto the table. Several bottles of soda roll and fall off table.

"Uh, Oh, " says Mith, hoping nobody opesn them very soon.

"Hey, I thought this was sound equipment. What happened to my cables and microphones?" Gamba says, scratching his head. "I'll be back." Phura, Gamba and Azraph re-enter carrying electric guitar, bass, and keyboards. Kesha has a drum. "Quick, let's get this set up before Mom objects, " Gamba mutters. "Who's got the monitors? Hurry up with that soundboard. Mith? We need power."

Bethberry offers streamers, more champagne, and a medley of music, from the Eurythmics to Nickle Creek, The Smiths, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and, last but not least, Neil Young "Harvest".

Thanks for a wonderful read, all of you.(I thought you would never end. )
